Ian
It's hard to put into words the incredibly dynamic personality, skill set, and person that this guy is. Nonetheless, I will try, for Ian is truly one of the most amazing guys I have ever met.
Ian is intelligent, charismatic, caring, dependable, a lover of music, a baller (literally, he plays basketball...and is really good), a shameless dancer, and an incredible friend.
I've known Ian for a while now; however, our friendship has been consistently growing over the past four years–and I have only become more impressed with him. He is a student athlete who works exceptionally hard, playing basketball year round honing in on his skills while at the same time applying himself to his classes. He is a leader who leads by example with humility, putting others and the goal of the team or group above himself. He is a loyal friend who I can always count on, call on, and lean on no matter what is going on with me. He is, to say the least, well-rounded.
His gentle, fun loving, charismatic demeanor draws people in and never fails to make them feel accepted. Someone with the social smarts, self-awareness, and personaily of Ian is honestly a joy to be around, and you can see that no matter where Ian goes.
This past year, our senior year, Ian and I went to nearly every football game together. They were honestly some of the most fun games I have been to. During that time I got to see Ian interact with others in a new way, seeing him often lead other students with his enthusiasm and participation, as well as respect, acknowledging that these were not just social events but games that mattered to a large group of people. A large group of people that many, including us, consider friends. He did so in a way that was so natural, so normal, so effortless. I honestly think I'm the only person, including Ian, that noticed what was happening. It was amazing.
It really is the little things, the overwhelmingly unique yet subtle characteristics and mannerisms, that are so natural and normal for him, that interest and amaze me.
Ian, you are one of a kind man. I am incredibly thankful for you and all the good times we have shared together, and am greatly anticipating the many more to come. Keep doing you brother, you're gonna do big things.
